We’ve put our best foot forward at the annual Bloodwise Bromsgrove fun-run on Sunday the 8th of May. Battling the un-British hot weather, all team members finished their respective runs raising funds for charity.
A dedicated team of seven colleagues ran either 5 or 10 kilometres in aid of the charity, which was formerly known as Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, raising over £750. Although it was a scorching 26 degrees Celsius during the run there were no casualties and all team-mates finished making good time.
Bloodwise is the UK’s leading blood cancer charity, aiming to beat all 137 different types of blood cancer. Money raised will be mainly used on funding research: the charity spent 23 million pounds last year on different research projects across the country. They also developed the Trials Acceleration Programme, which aims to speed up the development of new treatments by creating a central hub to oversee all trials and handle the accompanying paperwork.
Sue Bailey, Managing Director comments: “˜I’m so proud of our team here at Gough Bailey Wright, running in that immense heat last Sunday. Together we raised a significant amount for Bloodwise, which is such a deserving charity with a cause that’s close to my heart.
“˜The team have all practiced during the last few months, taking small steps at the time building up to the run. The team-spirit was immense and it’s great to see all their efforts paid off on the day. The atmosphere was just amazing thanks to all the supporters from our company and their families who cheered our runners on. I couldn’t be more proud.’
